Boil Eggs
-
Place the eggs in a saucepan: Put the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with cold water. Make sure the water covers the eggs by at least an inch or so.
-
Heat the water: Put the saucepan on the stove and turn the heat to high. Wait for the water to come to a rolling boil.
-
Turn off the heat: Once the water is boiling, turn off the heat and cover the saucepan with a lid.
-
Let the eggs sit: Let the eggs sit in the hot water for about 12 minutes for large eggs, or 10 minutes for medium-sized eggs, and 15 minutes for extra-large eggs. Set a timer to make sure you don't forget.
-
Cool the eggs: When the timer goes off, carefully remove the eggs from the saucepan and place them in a bowl of cold water. Let them cool for a few minutes until they are cool enough to handle.
-
Peel the eggs: Once the eggs are cool, you can peel them. Gently tap the egg on a hard surface, and then roll it back and forth to loosen the shell. Peel the shell off and discard it.
