This game is perfect for people who are interested in cognitive science and its biases. It will allow you to not only learn but develop and apply your newfound knowledge to real-life situations while acquiring the necessary information to prosper. My nephew and I had a good time learning by playing this game.
This has been a great learning resource for both family and friends to learn and enhance so many aspects of critical thinking. It tests and teaches logic, memory, philosophy, emotional intelligence, problem solving, decision making. It really stretches the mind!!What you learn in playing the game even makes for really great conversation starters when meeting new people or even just in a lull in conversation among friends.I highly recommend this for anyone interested in making cognitive-behavioral learning actually fun and interesting.
Took this on our 6 hour road trip and the time went by so quickly. I have a teenage boy that has a tendency to be glued to his phone. This set of cards was an amazing conversation starter and opened up both our worlds to one another’s philosophies. Highly recommend!
This set of 52 Essential Critical Thinking cards consists of 52 cards identifying and explaining various cognitive biases that we have as individuals and as groups. As food for thought, topics of discussion, or even subjects to debate, these cards provide hours of thought-provoking sessions. However, as a card game, I just don't see it. The instructions included with the set of cards describe how to play each of many different games using this deck of cards. Most of the games revolve around guessing the name of the cognitive bias based on various clues found on the card. This is suppose to be for ages 10 and up. Some of the bias names are things like Outgroup Homogeneity Bias, Declinism, Mere Exposure Effect, Defensive Attribution, etc. Now just what are the odds of those names popping into someone's head, especially a child, no matter how many clues are given? In my opinion, all this would lead to is frustration on the part of the players and a desire not to have anything more to do with these cards. While I think the concepts explained on these cards regarding cognitive bias are great and definitely worth teaching and discussing, even with children as young as age 10, I think it totally fails as a game, either for kids or adults. I am giving it 4 stars because of the information contained on each card, but dropping one star because of the inaccurate (in my opinion) claim that it is not only a game, but a fun one.
Photo with soda can for scale.Nice tin, decent quality cards. In today's social media environment it is crucial that everyone have critical thinking skills. There is a 3 min video on how to play the game. To be fair, this is not the sort of “game” that kids are going to want to whip out to play at family game night. It does lean toward educational, curious kids will enjoy it but it does not have the same sort of say, immersiveness as playing Settlers of Catan. It is a good discussion starter. It says 10 and up, we had a 8 year old who could handle this as well, but she is very bright.Being able to identify and name logical fallacies gives you a handle on thinking. Interestingly after just an hours play I had a student say that she finds that now when she reads social media posts and comments she starts thinking “anchoring bias, loss aversion” and so on.One note, if you teach these to your kids, they will have weapons to use against you, so you better be prepared.I would like expansion packs.
fun cards
Original.
The cards are fine but much smaller than the images of them online. I didn't bother looking at the dimensions at Amazon.com - you should
I didn't know there were playing cards. I purchased them to have the wisdom cards on hand. It means something else to me now that they serve another function. I want to buy more!
Not enough detail in the pat phrases.
The game looks like fun and easy to play. Bought these for my willfully, ignorant family so they can work on their critical thinking skills.
Very happy and satisfied with the flash cards.
Love these cards, however these “critical thinking” cards are more about understanding bias and how to be a critic of your own thoughts (challenging assumptions etc), NOT about problem solving and system thinking.I should have read the description a bit better, so I’m just saying here—buyer beware!
Lacks facts and real intelligence. Not at all like the ORIGINAL critical thinking curriculum for GATE and indigo children.
These are great. The suggestion for a game aspect is to try and guess what the different bias might be.Then read the answer on the card. Creates meaningful discussion and thought. I wish they were bigger. It's hard to read without glasses. They are small cards.
Really clunky, oversimplified, poor quality
To the point!
As a game, this sux!
I know… I know…. The thing is that I thought this would make a fun game as well as a learning experience. It was really just a learning experience. I know the deck to learn more and it absolutely is educational. Just lacked the fun factor I thought I would get with the deck.
I recently purchased the 52 Essential Critical Thinking Cards from Mind Brain Emotion and I must say, I'm extremely impressed. The quality of the cards themselves is top-notch; they are sturdy and the design is visually appealing. But the true value of this product lies in its content. Each card offers a bite-sized critical thinking challenge designed to stimulate various aspects of critical thinking. As someone who has always valued the power of critical thinking, I find these cards to be an excellent resource. Whether you're looking to make better decisions, improve problem-solving skills, or simply stretch your intellectual muscles, this set delivers on all fronts.I particularly appreciate the applicability of these cards for veterans like myself. Transitioning from military to civilian life can be a complex process, that comes with a variety of decisions and emotional hurdles. Many of us veterans are used to high-stakes environments where critical thinking is not just valued but necessary for survival. These cards offer a familiar yet constructive way to engage our minds, helping us adapt our skills to new challenges in civilian life.In summary, the 52 Essential Critical Thinking Cards from Mind Brain Emotion are a valuable resource for anyone looking to boost their critical thinking skills. My students value the stimulating conversations generated by the cards.I value the cards so much, that I recently purchased another set for a fellow instructor.Dr. Woo, you are a hero in my book!Thank you for these incredible resources that I now have the privilege to share with other veterans.Professor D
Good
Im a school social worker and I love these cards!!! They're so helpful when working with kids and there's so many different topics that I can keep using them throughout the year without worrying about repeating topics too much
I am loving to use these with my students. The kids love these starters and questions. Perfect for a short amount of time or a lengthy amount of time.
We acquired this set thinking we might utilize with Back-to-School training. Great concept but we will never use them. The set fell flat for our expectations and needs.
Well thought out
Informative, but could have been made much better if the cards were made much larger, just like Pip Decks.
Ideas to consider when composing written argument.
Aplicable para temas de negociación, solución de conflictos, toma de decisiones, etc. Situaciones familiares en varios entornos.
We use these to talk through the scenarios with our kids
